PPWCC’s First Fast CAT Trial is Coming in December!
Does your corgi tear around the house like a whirlwind? Does he or she catapult around your yard like a bolt of lightning? Then Fast CAT competition is for you and your dog!
The Palmetto Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club is sponsoring its first Fast CAT trial this December 27th through 29th at the Union County Fairgrounds in Union, SC. This will be the last chance of the year to qualify for the National Fast CAT competition.

In addition to the regular qualifying runs, we will offer practice runs (aka “Fun Runs”) at $5.00 per run, with all proceeds from the Fun Runs going to Manna Food Bank to help with recovery from Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. On trial days, we will also be accepting donations of food staples (canned vegetables and fruit, cans or pouches of chicken and tuna, as well as dry and canned dog and cat food) to assist Manna in their efforts.
PPWCC’s First Barn Hunt Trial is in February 2025!
Does your corgi have a nose? Of course she or he does! All corgis have very good noses and they know how to use them! Being all purpose farm dogs in Wales, corgis not only herded livestock but also guarded the house and kept the barn free of rats and mice. Here’s a chance to find out how well your corgi uses his or her nose to find those pesky varmints.
Barn Hunt is a sport that challenges both you and your dog to use instinct and mental acuity to sniff out and find a target (usually a rat in a special cage) in a barn or farm type environment. Like other dog sports, your dog can earn points towards titles awarded by the Barn Hunt Association and recognized by the AKC. If you’re unfamiliar with Barn Hunt you can open this video to watch a novice level run and learn more about the sport.
PPWCC will hold our first ever Barn Hunt trial February 21st through 23rd, 2025, at The Red Barn in West Columbia, SC. You can find more details about this event on the Barn Hunt Association’s web site. You can click here to download the Premium List.
